DHANGADHI: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal led group claiming they have majority of lawmakers on their side was foolish.

Prime Minister Oli said this at a mass gathering organised by the Oli-led faction of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) of Sudurpaschim Province, at Khula Manch in Dhangadhi, on Friday.

Accusing the Dahal-Nepal group of being run-aways, the Prime Minister challenged, “They say that 265 party members are on their side; 265 from the 30 million people in the country does not make a difference.”

“I am invested in ensuring that the campaign of Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali comes to fruition,” the PM claimed, adding, “You might have come across those who have deserted the party and have criticised us. There is, however, no need for you to be affected by them.” He insisted that the public not listen to those who have left their own party.

Hinting towards his nemesis Dahal, with whom only recently he co-led the party, PM Oli further asserted that Nepal Communist Party (NCP) was not one that is occupied with one’s relatives.

On a different note, he announced that Geta Medical College in Kailali would be developed into a medical university. While talking about development, he added that works on the Western Seti Electricity Project would be taken forward. He stated that foreign investments would be sought in addition to domestic financing. Likewise, the PM also informed that air travel to and from the province would be further developed.

The Prime Minister went on to profess that no one will, henceforth, be able to put Sudurpaschim Province behind.

Prime Minister Oli had reached Dhangadhi this afternoon to address the mass gathering. This is the first time after dissolution of the House of Representatives and split in the ruling NCP that PM Oli — chairperson of one of the splinter groups — has addressed a public gathering outside Kathmandu valley.

A large number of security personnel were mobilised in Dhangadhi and other areas of Kailali district since today morning for the arrival of the PM.

It is to be noted that NCP has a government in the province wherein a comfortable majority is held by the Dahal-Nepal faction. The group also holds a majority in the provincial assembly in Karnali.
