SIRAHA, JANUARY 4
Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel today defended Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s move dissolving the House of Representatives and announcing fresh polls.
Addressing Nepal Communist Party (Oli faction)’s district-level meeting at Choharwa, in Siraha, Pokharel held that Prime Minister Oli was forced to dissolve the Parliament as he was cornered within the party.
“Oli’s hands were tied, and he was not allowed to work.
Madhav Kumar Nepal and Pushpa Kamal Dahal always sought their share and never allowed Oli to work in fullfledged manner,” he alleged.
He also said that Oli decided to dissolve the Parliament as conspiracies were being hatched to register no-trust motion against the prime minister and impeachment motion against the president in the Parliament.
Pokharel claimed that Oli had decided to go for fresh polls after he was not allowed to work according to the mandate given by people.
Pokharel, however, said that they could be united with Dahal and Nepal faction if they withdrew the ‘allegations’ labelled against Oli in the party and agreed to go to the polls.
At the programme, Minister of Urban Development Prabhu Sah said that Oli too was not happy with the move of dissolving the House of Representatives, but was forced to take such a step.
